Thanks for your order! This guide helps you pack a 2–4 day trip into one clamshell travel backpack. Print it or save this page.
1. The 3-day packing checklist
- 3 tops, 2 bottoms, 1 warm layer (wear the bulkiest items on travel day)
- Sleepwear and underwear/socks for each day
- 1 extra pair of shoes only if you need them (pack in a bag at the bottom)
- Toiletries: travel sizes; keep liquids in one clear quart-size bag per TSA's 3-1-1 rule
- Medications and a basic first-aid kit
- Laptop or tablet, chargers, earbuds, a power bank
- ID, passport if needed, cards, boarding passes, reservations
2. Clamshell packing sequence
- Lay the bag flat and open it fully.
- Heavy, flat items go against the back panel so the bag carries well.
- Roll soft clothing and fill the main side first.
- Shoes (in a bag) go at the bottom edge.
- Put your toiletry and liquids bag near the top so it's easy to pull out at security.
- Slide the laptop into the padded sleeve last.
- Zip around and check that nothing is straining the zippers. If it is, remove an item.
3. Travel organization checklist
- Hidden back-panel pockets: passport, cards, cash
- Front quick-access pocket: phone, earbuds, chargers
- Side pocket: water bottle
- Document/tablet compartment: boarding passes, tablet, notebook
4. Airport-day checklist
- Check your airline's current size limits and bag fees for your fare. They vary by airline and fare type.
- Measure and weigh your packed bag if your fare is restrictive.
- Keep liquids and laptop accessible for screening.
- Download boarding passes and check in online.
- Leave a little space for anything you bring home.
Airline policies change. Always confirm with your airline before you fly.
